Tiger's father, Earl, often said that you get out what you put in.
What is one thing that you and your family do every year for the holidays?
Bob from Great Falls, Mont.
Like a lot of people with relatives in different places, our holiday plans vary, Bob. We do, however, always try to spend it with family and friends. Now that Elin and I have two children, everyone wants to visit and see Sam and Charlie, which is great. Fortunately, Orlando has many fun attractions that can keep guests busy. If we do the traveling, it may mean a trip across the country to see my mom or a trip across the globe.
What is your favorite sport aside from golf?
David from Miami Beach, Fla.
David, I'm very fortunate that I like to exercise. That includes lifting weights, aerobic activities and now, even fast, short runs. When I began my rehabilitation after knee surgery, working out on the bike and exercising in the pool were among the few things I could do. Improving in those two, and trying to get well, served as my competition.
I see you in all kinds of great Nike gear. Do you work with Nike in creating these outfits?
Phil from Studio City, Calif.
I do, Phil. The folks at Nike are great about asking my opinion on everything from clothes to clubs. I know what I think looks good, but it also has to perform to the highest standards. In golf, clothing is our uniform, so it better fit just right. It's also neat working with Nike in scripting my clothes, which means I know what I'll be wearing at next year's majors and several other events, too. When I run an errand, I'm not as organized. I usually wear something that (sort of) matches jeans or shorts.
As a parent, I would just like to thank you for the positive influence you have had on my two boys. They reference your work ethic often, and I am thankful every day that they follow you.
Kaitlin from Brookfield, Wisc.
Thanks, Kaitlin. I know that at home you set a very high standard. Often, people ask me some of the things I learned from my parents. What always comes to mind is something my pop told me. He said that you get out what you put in. If you want to become a great teacher, soldier or doctor, you have to work hard and study. If you want to improve your golf game, you have to practice. It's really that simple. There are no shortcuts.
When you practice, do you ride or carry your bag?
Tonie from Tampa, Fla.
It depends, Tonie. If I'm in a hurry, and have a limited time to play, I'll typically take a cart. If the weather is cool in Florida, and I'm playing with friends, often we'll walk. Sometimes in the summer, it's just too hot to walk. If you do, make sure you stay hydrated -- I always carry my Gatorade bottle with me -- and try to avoid the hottest part of the day.
