Tiger Woods Design is a full-service golf course design firm that believes an extraordinary golf course results from three distinct phases of the golf course design process: Initial Concept Development & Planning, Concept Refinement & Construction Documentation Development, and Design Implementation During Construction. We believe each phase of the design process is critical to the creation of a distinctive golf course. Tiger Woods Design provides the expertise to ensure that each phase is accomplished at the highest of standards.
Phase 1: Concept Development & Planning
Primary Goal: Understand the client's vision and set specific goals and objectives. Tiger Woods Design will develop a golf course routing plan and a course construction budget to ensure the collection vision will be achieved.
Phase 1 Details:
- Review site to develop conceptual ideas and alternatives
- Inspect site to determine construction feasibility
- Analyze preliminary budget of golf course construction to determine project feasibility
- Develop final routing plan based on client review and refinement
- Consult with client's land planners to establish an optimal project master plan
- Development of conceptual grading, grassing, landscaping and other construction program elements
- Analyze budget and refine based on final routing plan and conceptual development
- Recommend other consultants as needed for golf course construction including project manager, golf course superintendent, irrigation designer, landscape designer, engineer, environmental analysts, permit experts, etc.
Phase 2: Concept Refinement & Construction Documentation Development
Primary Goal: Begin to bring the client's vision to life. Tiger Woods Design will refine the conceptual plan, develop the construction documents and assist with the selection of a golf course builder.
Phase 2 Details:
- Refine conceptual construction program elements
- Provide a full set of drawings for golf course construction
- Provide a full set of construction specifications
- Provide a full set of bid forms that define the scope of work
- Review of other consultants' plans for construction including engineering, environmental, landscaping, irrigation, etc.
- Identify a list of golf course builders suitable for bidding or negotiating the project
- Consult with the client during the bid and tendering process
Phase 3: Design Implementation During Construction
Primary Goal: Ensure proper execution of the client's vision. Tiger Woods Design will work closely with the project team to ensure the proper implementation of course construction documents in the field.
Phase 3 Details:
- Ensure best implementation of golf course construction documents in the field
- Conduct frequent, site visits for layout and review of golf course features and construction
- Provide hands-on attention to fairway shaping, green contours and bunker detailing
- Assist with quality control over implementation of all golf design elements
- Conduct follow-up inspections to ensure quality of maturation
